Healthy Skin
Your skin is truly amazing. Millions of years of evolution has given us this extremely thin shield that is flexible enough to allow us to perform complicated movements whilst protecting us from environmental aggravators and pollutants. Think about it, we could have evolved to have skin as thick as elephants. The primary function of skin is as a barrier, protecting us from outside environmental stresses. It’s also the organ that is in continual contact with the outside whilst constantly communicating with our insides. So it’s protective, a barrier and a sensor. It’s our very own superhero shield without us realising it.
Now there’s a few reasons to “love the skin your in!”.
So that being said, the majority of us have healthy skin. It’s the default setting for most people and it isn't defined by age.
But as you get older you're exposing yourself to a fair few environmental aggressors, so you're likely to start developing fine lines, pigmentation marks and wrinkles. Your skin’s ability to look like it did in its twenties isn’t quite the same. But remember the fundamental point that regardless of looks, if it’s still functioning as a barrier and sensor then you still have healthy skin.
